PARK CITY, Utah – A South Jordan man was arrested for investigation of attempted homicide after investigators say he shot his brother inside a Summit County hotel.
Lieutenant Andrew Wright said deputies went to the Westgate Hotel around 2:45 a.m. Sunday after a man called 911 to say his brother had shot him. Wright said the brothers were staying with their families at the hotel when there was some kind of argument.
“During their argument, the brother, Christopher Head, pulled out a handgun and started firing at his brother. One of the bullets struck the brother in the right buttocks. Another bullet lodged into a wall inside the hotel room,” Wright said.
Wright said the man who was shot went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He said investigators found two spent shell casings in the room and said there were several children nearby.
“There was an infant, a 2-year-old, and a teenager that witnessed this or at least were in the immediate area,” he said.
The presence of the children, Wright said, enhanced a domestic violence charge that investigators plan on looking into.
In all, Head was arrested for investigation of attempted homicide, two counts of discharge of a firearm, five counts of reckless endangerment, three counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child, carrying a dangerous weapon while under the influence of alcohol, and intoxication.
Head is being held on a $100,000 cash bail.
