Human Remains Found In American Fork Canyon, May Be Those Of Missing Woman

AMERICAN FORK, Utah — Officials announced Monday the finding of human remains in American Fork Canyon.
They said they may be those of missing woman Jerika Binks.
According to a press release from Utah County Sheriff’s Office, a man climbing in a ravine in the canyon reported finding human remains Sunday night.
“He saw what clearly appeared to be skeletal remains,” said Sgt. Spencer Cannon, Utah County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and detectives responded to the area and found several personal items with the remains that match descriptions of property owned by Jerika Binks.

Binks has been missing since February 18, 2018 when she left her home near American Fork to go running.
Cannon said they don’t believe there was any foul play.
“Causing harm to a person and then taking them there and leaving a body there – we don’t believe that happened,” he said.
Officials said the remains were recovered this morning, April 15th, and are now at the medical examiner’s office in Taylorsville.
They hope for positive identification as well as to determine a cause and manner of death.
