Megaplex Holds 22-Movie Marvel Marathon Over 3 Days

Apr 25, 2019, 7:17 AM

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – Nearly 260 Marvel fans traded the comforts of home for three days of watching all Marvel movies to date.

The marathon, held at Megaplex Theatres at The District, started Tuesday morning and will end Thursday evening with the premier of “Avengers: Endgame.”

“This is unlike anything Megaplex has ever hosted before.” said Jeff Whipple, Vice President of Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations for Megaplex Theaters.

Whipple said the operation had been months in the making. Megaplex was granted permission by Disney to hold the marathon selling tickets for $99 with a meal plan option for an additional $97.

“We are one of only 12 locations in North America to be able to host this event,” Whipple said. “Twenty-two continuous movies over 48 hours of content, 61 hours from start to finish.”

Dedicated fan Colt Norr said he signed up to participate in the event and was able to get the time off from work.

“It is a once-in-a-lifetime chance that I can relive what I’ve been waiting for through high school, a year of college,” he said. “These movies were 11 years of my life.

His strategy on staying up during the movies was to take quick naps through certain parts.

“ I would doze off but I woke up and noticed what part of the movie we were on,” Noor said. “I would laugh at the one-liner that I can recite.”

Noor said even if he has to say goodbye to beloved characters, he is excited to watch “Avengers: Endgame.”
