Repeat DUI Offender Facing New Charge of Driving While Intoxicated

PROVO, Utah – A Springville man is facing a new DUI charge just months after being paroled from prison following his role in a DUI crash.

Aaron Moorman’s latest arrest had a Utah County family upset because six years ago, he crashed into them.

It was another DUI arrest in a long pattern of repeat DUI cases, even after Moorman spent over three years in prison following the crash.

Back in 2013, Moorman hit another car head-on near Spanish Fork, critically injuring the mother and daughter. They were hospitalized for weeks and in rehabilitation for months.

Dyches, who suffered permanent injuries in that crash, couldn’t believe Moorman was facing more charges.

Officials with the Utah Highway Patrol said he was pulled over on August 11 for going more than 85 miles per hour on I-15.

In a written statement, Dyches told KSL: “I’m saddened to hear of Mr. Moorman’s recent charges. I had hoped from his time being incarcerated that he had learned from his previous mistakes.  I’m hopeful the judge will see that Mr. Moorman’s decisions are putting more innocent people at risk.”

Court documents stated that troopers suspected Moorman had his eight-year-old daughter breathe into the interlock ignition breathalyzer in his car, allowing him to start the vehicle, even though he was under the influence.

She was with him when he was arrested.

Moorman could face zero-to-five years in prison if he is convicted in this case.

He is due back in court on September 24.
