Wet Roads Cause Multiple Semi-Truck Crashes Across Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Authorities reported multiple crashes across the state — many involving semi-trucks — as slow-moving storm dumped rain and snow on Utah roads.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a pickup truck traveling westbound on I-80 near mile post 117 lost control and rolled. A semi-truck attempted to avoid the pickup and ended up tipping as well.
No injuries were reported. Multiple lanes were closed as crews worked to clear the scene.

In southern Utah, two semi-trucks rolled on southbound I-15 between Cedar City and St. George, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. Both trucks had lanes closed.
UHP reported there were minor injuries for those crashes, and crews will have to wait until daylight to assess recovery on one of them.

After a the report of a fourth semi-truck crash in Summit County, UHP took to twitter Wednesday morning to remind commercial vehicle operators to “be mindful of today’s conditions and operate your vehicles accordingly.”

According to UHP Sgt. Nick Street, more than 50 crashes were reported as of 9:30 a.m.
