SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – It was quite a trip to get Lori Vallow-Daybell back to Idaho.
She flew from Hawaii to Los Angeles, then to Seattle, Boise, and on to Rexburg.
During the flight to Los Angeles, a Herriman man was also on that plane and shot video of Vallow-Daybell as she was escorted by authorities into a police car.
“As soon as we got off and could look through the window, there were several police cars down there,” said Kevin Lunt.
Lunt, a professional photographer, is the man who shot the video that has now been seen thousands of times across the country.
“Wasn’t even with my good camera. It was with my phone,” said Lunt.
He, too, had been in Hawaii for the past week.
He was there to shoot a wedding and left on the same flight Vallow-Daybell was on heading to Los Angeles.
“Yeah. We knew right away,” said Lunt.
It’s not every day you share a flight with someone it seems the whole country is interested in.
“She was in the back and there wasn’t anyone within several rows of her,” said Lunt. “They had a couple, I think they were marshals, I don’t know, authorities with her.”
Those are the same authorities who took her off the plane in Los Angeles to get her to her next plane.
“Those that were closer said she seemed to be in good spirits, positive, smiling, she slept for part of the flight and none of the passengers really interacted with her,” he said.
Lunt said people inside the terminal were watching her, including a photographer who bought an airplane ticket to get through security and to the gate just to get a good picture of Vallow-Daybell.
He has no doubt people will continue to watch her as this case is truly just getting started.
“Yeah,” he said. “It’s nice to get that underway.”
