Utah Family Brings Delicate Arch To Their Driveway

LEHI, Utah – A Utah County family has found a unique way to make the most of their canceled spring break plans during Governor Gary Herbert’s directive to stay home and stay safe.

“We’re big outdoor enthusiasts. That’s basically our life,” said Laura Titensor from Lehi.

Under the current coronavirus pandemic, Titensor and her family have been staying home more than anything.

“Like everyone else in the world, literally the world, we had trips that were canceled, so we decided to bring our trip to us,” said Titensor.

Their trip was an outdoor adventure to Delicate Arch in Southern Utah.

“We just decided to call it quits. Obviously, we can’t go down to Moab,” said Titensor.

She said she wasn’t about to give up on the idea of family time. After all, her non-profit, Crayons and Cairns, is all about overcoming obstacles.

“We try to bring down some of the hurdles families face when they’re trying to go camping,” said Titensor, who recognized the situation as a definite barrier.

“I was like, ‘Well, we are still going to go canyoneering. Let’s do this,’ and some of them were excited about it. Some of them were not game for it,” she said.

After picking up multiple boxes of chalk to mimic the red rock at Arched National Park, the Lehi mom got to work.

“Just the orange took me 40 pieces,” she said.

Four hours later, the iconic arch was in their driveway – a symbol of Utah, a symbol of family, and it was quite the adventure.

“If you look up the definition of adventure, it’s actually exploration of the unknown. I think that’s really cool because right now is the unknown,” said Titensor.

She said what you do with the additional time at home matters most.

“You can be creative during this time and just go and explore in a different way with your family,” Titensor said.
