FARMINGTON, Utah — From crashing a celebrity wedding, to pulling off crazy stunts, one Utah graduate from the class of 2020 has definitely made his time in high school unforgettable.

Some people might not know who Nick Shirley is yet, but one day, they will.

“I started as a sophomore and I was like, I’m going to take this by storm,” he said.

Ever since he was a sophomore at Farmington High School, 18-year-old Nick has made one video — or vlog — per week.

His very first one was of him running a marathon with no training.

“People think you train five months for this,” he said in his vlog while dressed in a costume. “Nope, you just gotta be active and hit ’em with the song!”

Since then, he’s done a lot, like taking his mom to prom during quarantine. He also did a special feature on his 83-year-old grandma who can still do the splits.

Nick even snuck into the wedding of YouTube star, Jake Paul. That stunt netted him thousands of followers.

“That was like the greatest feeling ever,” he said. “Like getting that type of content, I just knew it was going to be successful.”

Nick said he shoots all his own video himself, and spends hours and hours editing.

So far, he’s up to 80 vlogs and 7,000 followers on his YouTube channel.

While his mom said she couldn’t be more proud, there’s an occasional stunt he does that she doesn’t approve of.

“My favorite, favorite one of all time though is when I flew to New York without telling my parents when I was 16,” Shirley said.

“People wonder, are you crazy?” said Brooke Shirley, Nick’s mom. “But he just does what he does, and that’s what makes him Nick.”

Despite all his crazy antics, Nick also uses his vlogs for good — like the time he raised money to give two of his teachers a $1,000 bonus each.

An emotional and teary vlog showed how meaningful it was to both Nick and his teachers.

Nick isn’t just a kid who makes videos. He’s also a football player, track star, great student — who even got an academic scholarship — and most importantly, a hard worker.

“He’s got a bright future. Look out for Nick Shirley. This isn’t the end,” said Brooke.
