Firewatch: 9 Total Wildfires Burning In Utah As Dry Weather Continues Into Weekend

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Crews around the state on Friday were working to contain at least nine wildfires, five of which have been determined to be human-caused.
Two of the fires were lightning-caused, and two are under investigation, according to Utah Fire Info.
There is a 10% chance of precipitation for areas of the state on Tuesday, but the weather will continue to be warm and dry for at least the next four days.

Here’s a look at each wildfire burning in the state:
Mountain Home Fire
The Mountain Home Fire in Weber County burned 78 acres and is now 100% contained, officials said. Crews are continuing to monitor the fire. Fire officials said it was human-caused.

Pole Canyon Fire
In Utah County, the Pole Canyon Fire has burned 488 acres and is 30% contained. This wildfire, one of the many that have sparked in Utah County this fire season, was caused by someone using heavy equipment, authorities said.

Big Hollow Fire
The Big Hollow Fire has burned approximately 300 acres near the town of Daniel in Wasatch County and is zero percent contained. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but authorities said it was human-caused.
This is the third fire in as many years in this same area, officials said. The previous two were started by people shooting guns along the hillside.
Some evacuations were ordered early on, but they have since been lifted.

Abbot Fire
The lightning-caused Abbot Fire in Duchesne County has burned 52 acres and is now 100% contained.
Allen Fire
The Allen Fire is burning in Daggett County and is now 50% contained. It has burned 40 acres. The cause of this fire is unknown.
Split Fire
In Uintah County, the Split Fire has burned 37 acres and is zero percent contained. The fire was sparked by lightning.
Big Summit Fire
The Big Summit Fire began in Nevada and has burned across the western border into Iron County. It is at 6,367 acres and is 10% contained. Approximately 20 homes in the area were evacuated. The cause of the fire is unknown.
Veyo West Fire
The Veyo West Fire is burning in Washington County near the town of Veyo. It has burned 2,618 acres and is 40% contained. Previous evacuations have been lifted. One primary residence and one outbuilding were both destroyed.
The fire is under investigation, but it was determined to be human-caused.
Turkey Farm Road Fire
The Turkey Farm Road Fire near Washington City in Washington County was caused by a trio of individuals lighting illegal fireworks on July 13, authorities said. It has burned 11,993 acres and is 40% contained.
