Firewatch: Crews Battling Several Wildfires Across Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – There were several active wildfires burning across Utah on Monday, according to the latest information from Utah Fire Info, including new fires in Washington and Box Elder counties.
Cottonwood Trail Fire
The Cottonwood Trail Fire in Washington County has burned 1,631 acres and is 35% contained, according to the most recent update from Utah Fire Info. The fire is burning near I-15 near Leeds.
All evacuations have been lifted, but authorities are asking drivers to proceed with caution as crews are working along the freeway.
The fire was sparked Sunday by a blown tire, authorities said.
Strawberry Fire
Crews have also responded to the Strawberry Fire in the Bowers Flat area, near Mammoth Creek Road and state Route 14 in Kane County. Approximately 70 acres have been burned.
Officials said camping trailers in the area were threatened but no evacuations have been ordered.
No cause for the fire has been given.
CMFPD crews along with Div of Forestry and BLM crews are engaged with the Strawberry Fire just east of Mammoth Creek Road. Just north of the 14. Approx 5 acres are burning. No evacuation needs at this time. However it’s a good idea to prepare for it.

Dennis Hill Fire
The Dennis Hill Fire started Monday afternoon and was estimated at 300 acres.
No cause has been given for the blaze, which is burning near Park Valley in northwest Box Elder County.

Turkey Farm Road Fire
Also in Washington County, the Turkey Farm Road Fire has burned 11,993 acres and is 85% contained. The fire was caused by human lighting illegal fireworks.
Veyo West Fire
The third wildfire in Washington County is the Veyo West Fire, which has burned 2,809 acres and is 90% contained. This fire began July 13 and was human-caused.
Big Summit Fire
On the Nevada-Utah border, the Big Summit Fire has burned 8,453 acres and is 54% contained. Previous road closures and evacuations in the Hamlin Valley area have been lifted.

Howell Peak Fire
Farther north, in Millard County, the Howell Peak fire has burned 100 acres and is zero percent contained. This wildfire started Sunday. No other information was immediately available on this incident.
Pole Canyon Fire
The Pole Canyon Fire in Utah County is now 93% contained. It has burned 488 acres. The fire was started on July 15 by someone using heavy equipment.
Big Hollow Fire
The Big Hollow Fire in Wasatch County burned 418 acres is now 85% contained.
Voluntary evacuations were lifted Sunday. Officials said the fire is believed to be human-caused.
Split Fire
The Split Fire in Uintah County has burned 18 acres and is zero percent contained.
Allen Fire
In Daggett County, the Allen Fire has burned 40 acres and is 90% contained.
Three Hill Fire
The Three Hill Fire burned 97 acres and is 100% contained. Authorities said it was human-caused.
