More Utah Crews Headed To California To Help Battle Wildfires

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Dozens more firefighters from Utah area heading to California to help battle the massive wildfires burning across the state.
A total of 41 firefighters from across the state, including Draper, Park City and Provo, left for the Golden State Wednesday morning. Thirty-four of them had just returned from a deployment to California in August.
They’ll be helping battle the massive wildfires that are being fueled by record temperatures and strong winds.
Hundreds of thousands of people have either already evacuated or are being told to be ready to flee at a moment’s notice.
The Santa Ana winds are expected to pick up Wednesday, which will likely cause the fires to spread even faster.
Those fires have created thick smoke that is filling the atmosphere from the State of Washington to Southern California. In some areas, the smoke is so bad that it’s raining ash.
