SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Officials at the Salt Lake International Airport have recommended anyone taking a flight or picking someone up to check for delays or cancellations, and give themselves extra time to drive on snow-packed roadways.
Snow overnight added to already slick roads Wednesday morning. Drive times were double and triple the normal commute.
Officials with the Utah Department of Transportation advised drivers to avoid going out if they could avoid it – or to delay trips until after 10 a.m., if possible.
Dozens of plows have been out through the night working to clear snow off the roads, including at the airport, where crews were working to keep the airfield dry.
Most departing and arriving planes were operating on schedule, but airport officials recommended checking the status of a flight before heading out.

Crews have been out clearing the snow on the airfield since early this morning. Passengers are reminded to check with their airline for possible delays or cancellations. Always a good idea to allow extra time. Safe travels! pic.twitter.com/I3s2e6Y8ho
