Shah Pleads Not Guilty To Federal Fraud Charges

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – A federal judge set bond for Jen Shah at $1 million after the “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star pleaded not guilty to fraud charges.
Shah appeared virtually in court Friday morning. She faced federal fraud charges out of New York connected to a telemarketing scheme.
Officials from the US Department of Justice said Shah and her co-conspirators were accused of stealing millions of dollars from thousands of people.
Prosecutors said Shah’s assistant, Stuart Smith, was primarily responsible for creating shell companies in the scheme. They said they believed Shah and Smith have access to a substantial amount of cash associated with one of the businesses.
A US attorney said Shah was at the “highest level” of the plot. The trial was scheduled for Oct. 18, though officials said the date could change depending on the situation with the pandemic at that point.
Prosecutors say Smith (Jen's assistant) was primarily responsible for making the shell companies (fraud companies) in the scheme.
