Three People Arrested In Connection To Shootout With U.S. Marshals

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Police took three people into custody in connection with a shootout with federal officers on Redwood Road.
The incident started around 8:45 Thursday night near 500 South.
U.S. Marshals were looking for two wanted fugitives, Anthony Welch and Valarie Humphrey, according to a news release.
When they tried to serve an arrest warrant at a home they were greeted with a barrage of gunfire, about 15 to 20 rounds Marshals said.
Officers returned fire but no one was shot.
The Unified police SWAT team arrived on the scene along with several other law enforcement agencies.
Officers took Welch, Humphrey, and a third person into custody and booked them into the Salt Lake County Jail.
The West Valley City Police Shooting Protocol Team took over the investigation.
