LEWISTON, Utah — A 27-year-old woman was taken into custody Saturday after authorities in Cache County say she hit her brother in the head with a cane.

The incident happened at a residence near 500 South and 1600 West in Lewiston.

Officials with the Cache County Sheriff’s Office said it was reported to them that a man had been stabbed.

When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered an altercation had taken place between siblings.

“During this altercation, Serena Frazier, a *25-year-old transgender female, had allegedly struck her 29-year-old brother in the head with a cane, causing a significant laceration,” read a press release from the agency.

Authorities said the brother was treated at the scene for head injuries and then released.

Serena was also treated on scene by EMS, according to court documents, after deputies found blood on her arms, pants and jacket.

The brother and sister were then taken to the Sheriff’s Office for questioning.

“Based on information provided by each party during the interviews, I determined Serena was the predominant aggressor after learning she and Ryan had engaged in physical altercation in the kitchen of the home. During this physical altercation, Serena elevated to striking the victim on the head with cane which caused the laceration on the victim’s head, which she admitted. The laceration will most likely result in permanent disfigurement by way of scarring,” Jake Dalton Leonard with the Cache County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a probable cause statement.

After a search warrant was served on the home, Serena Frazier was booked into the Cache County Jail, where she is under investigation for aggravated assault, a third-degree felony.

*The Cache County Sheriff’s Office stated in their press release Saturday night that Serena Frazier is 25 years old , but according to court documents, Serena is 27 years old.
