WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — West Valley police were trying to piece together two unrelated incidents Saturday night that left one man dead and two others in critical condition with stab wounds.
Police said the first incident happened around 8 p.m. at an apartment complex at 4178 South 4808 W.
Officers found a man inside an apartment with several stab wounds.
Lt. Robert Brinton with West Valley City Police Department said the stabbing victim knocked on several doors looking for help. People in one apartment let him in and called 911.
An ambulance transported him to the hospital in critical condition.
Brinton said the victim lived at the complex.
“We have some limited information. We do have some people that we’d like to speak with that maybe have more information but we just don’t know yet,” Brinton said. “But we just like to speak with them. As of now, we don’t have anybody in custody.”
He said the victim died at a hospital about an hour later.
The second incident happened at 4440 West Trinity Ave. around 9 p.m.
Police found a man face down on the front porch. They found a second man inside with multiple stab wounds. Neither was responsive.
They were rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
“Also found a female who was hysterical and we couldn’t get a lot of information out of her,” Brinton said. “We ended up transporting the female as well because she ended up fainting, so we transported her to a local hospital for precautionary reasons.”
Brinton said the woman was likely the only witness and they believe she has a lot of information.
Police were interviewing her.
Brinton said officers found a firearm and a knife at the scene.
