Utah invader in Dragon Ball Z shirt held without bail as ‘threat to community’

ST. GEORGE, Utah —— A St. George man police say is a danger with a violent recent history will be held without bail after he reportedly entered a home and assaulted two people.

Braden Lee Holmes, 26, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, assault and assault with substantial bodily injury after he entered a residence while wearing a Dragon Ball Z t-shirt and punched two people in the face, according to probable cause court documents. Both victims in an apartment on Mall Drive in St. Geroge were left injured and bleeding.

“Based upon Braden’s apparent disregard for the health and safety of the City of Saint George, and it’s citizens, I request that the court hold Braden without bail,” police said in the documents from 5th District Court in Utah’s Washington County. “Braden poses an active and ongoing threat to the community, and has expressed a desire to right his perceived societal wrongs with acts of violence.”

One person, injured and bleeding from his nose, said a man about 5’10”, who was white and with long hair, that he did not know, entered his apartment and started talking to him. The victim told the stranger he wasn’t welcome and needed to leave and started to guide the unknown man out of the residence.

“The suspect began hitting victim #1 in the face causing both to fall to the floor,” documents state.

Another person inside the residence heard the commotion and tried to intervene but was also hit in the face. Police said that person’s nose was dislodged and broken in at least one place and he had a cut at his eyebrow. He told police the injuries were from being punched in the face by Holmes. That person was taken to a hospital for treatment to his injuries.

“Braden holds no regard for citizens, and expressed a desire to commit violence against a complete stranger,” police said.

The police report also detailed three other interactions with police:

• March 19 — Holmes was arrested for intoxication and interference with arrest and was described as belligerent
• April 12 — According to documents: “Branden had no regard for neighbors and caused enough alarm for law enforcement to be called.” He reportedly resisted arrest and fought with officers.
• On June 4, Holmes was arrested and told a person “I’m going to kill you.”

Holmes was arrested by St. George Police Department and books by Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
