Hundreds of extra patrols enter Utah highways to make holiday weekend travel safer

SALT LAKE CITY —Thursday kicked off the 4th of July holiday weekend and 90% of Americans traveling this weekend are doing so on the roads.
In Utah, 14 different law enforcement agencies are working dozens of extra shifts to catch speeders, drunk drivers, and other unsafe drivers.
It will be a busy weekend for law enforcement as Sergeant Cameron Roden with the Utah Highway Patrol told our Dan Spindle and Shara Park at noon.

- DRIVE CALM: I will remember that lives are at stake, not compromise safety when other drivers are inconsiderate, and never use others’ poor driving to excuse my bad driving.
We also invite families to submit photos of loved ones who lost their lives on Utah roads. Let’s all remember the lives represented in the startling statistics.
