TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — A man and woman were found dead with gunshot wounds Wednesday morning, according to police.
Taylorsville Police Sgt. Jake Hill said that multiple calls of gunshots were reported in the area of 3600 West 4700 South at approximately 5 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found a 35-year-old woman dead on the sidewalk in front of the Speedway gas station, Hill said.
“She looked like she had multiple gunshot wounds. She was deceased at the time,” he said.
Thirty minutes later, police also found a 27-year-old man a block away at 3500 West.
“About a block to the east, about 3500 West, they found a male with a gunshot wound as well,” Hill said.
One of the witnesses calling police about the shooting had their back window shot out by a stray bullet, according to the press release.
Hill said they are still looking for a suspect but do not believe that a gunman is on the loose and do not think it’s gang-related.
“[We] believe all involved parties are here on scene,” Hill said.
Betty Clark, a neighbor in the area, heard the shots.
“Five or six shots. Really quick. Yes it startled me. I thought what in the world can that be and I said sounded like a shot,” Clark said. “Real sad…just unreal what the world is coming to.”
Irene Ochoa also heard the shots and thought a robbery was happening.
“I was thinking they were robbing the gas station,” Ochoa said. “I’m not feeling safe here anymore. Me and my husband are scared.”
Police are currently working on identifying the victims and if there is a relationship between them.
