UPDATE: South Jordan Police confirmed the 31-year-old man shot has been released from the hospital Sunday afternoon.

Police are still looking for a suspect and haven’t made an arrest.

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — South Jordan Police are searching for the person responsible for a shooting that injured three people at a house party near Daybreak early Saturday morning.

Sgt. Eric Anderson with the South Jordan Police Department said officers were called at approximately 2 a.m. with partygoers reporting a shooting at a house near 6113 W. Arranmore Drive.

According to Anderson’s estimation, neighbors around the home could hear the loud party, which had about 50 people attending it.

“I thought maybe they’re like underage drinking or something,” said Vanessa Brito, who lives across the street.

She said her husband was watching out the window and told her to come to look.

“They had scattered. We had seen a bunch of kids heading that way, scattered and screaming,” she recounted. Soon after, she saw flashing lights. “I just saw police arriving, an ambulance, a fire truck. They just blocked off the road.”

There was some sort of fight, Sgt. Anderson explained before a 31-year-old man was shot twice, once in each leg.

“Our officers actually applied tourniquets when they arrived on the scene before paramedics arrived,” Anderson said. He said two others were injured by shrapnel from bullets.

All three were taken to the hospital, where Anderson indicated they were treated and expected to recover.

Police are now working on identifying and finding the suspect as the investigation continues.

Once located, Anderson said the suspect could face charges including aggravated assault, up to attempted homicide.

They believe this was an isolated incident with no threat to the public.
