Police identify teens believed to be responsible for church vandalism in Perry

PERRY, Utah — Two juveniles who police believe are responsible for the burglary and vandalism of a church building for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have been identified.
According to Perry Police Department, on Nov. 11, officers responded to a report of vandalism/burglary at a church located at 9001 W. 2450 South.
A statement from Perry police reads:
“We have received numerous tips from the public and we’ve conducted several interviews. We have served search warrants which have resulted in the seizure of evidence. With all of this, we have identified the juveniles who we believe are responsible for the burglary/vandalism. Once we finish processing the evidence we have, we will submit this case to the Box Elder Co Attorney’s Office for charges.”
The vandalism included slashed paintings, destroyed items in the chapel, a damaged organ and piano, smashed glass, and a torn-apart kitchen. Damage to the building and facilities was so extreme, church meetings were canceled Sunday morning.
The juveniles have not been identified publicly by police.
