MILLCREEK, Utah — Police arrested a third teenager for the fatal shooting at a Millcreek gas station on Nov. 11.

Slaman F. Ahmed, 19, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for three felony charges of discharge of a firearm, one felony charge of obstruction of justice, and one felony charge of murder on Friday, according to the affidavit.

At approximately 12:36 a.m, police responded to the 7-Eleven gas station on 4051 South State Street on reports of shots fired and that someone had been shot. When police arrived, they found several shell casings in the 7-Eleven parking lot.

According to the affidavit, as police searched the scene for evidence, two men, Slaman and 18-year-old Houssein Musse, came forward to surrender.

Musse had a black backpack on him, and officers say he “kept trying to reach into the open pocket” of the backpack, according to police. Officers were able to place him into custody before he was able to get his hand inside the backpack.

Police searched the backpack and found a handgun inside, according to the affidavit.

Slaman had a gunshot wound to the right of his abdomen, and police began first aid on him before sending him to the hospital in critical condition.

During this time, police were notified that the shooting victim, 18-year-old Talib “Kunda” Ahmed, was dropped off at the Intermountain Medical Center at approximately 12:50 a.m., according to the affidavit. Talib was shot several times, including in the head, and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Police attempted to stop the white Lexas that dropped off Talib but were unable to.

After reviewing security footage from the area, police believe five people in the Lexas, including Talib, pulled into the 7-Eleven parking lot at approximately 12:20 a.m. A black Chrysler 300 with three occupants, including Slaman and Musse, pulled into the parking lot two minutes later.

Slaman and Musse got out of the Chrysler, stared at the Lexas, and put their hands into a shoulder pack and a vest, according to the affidavit. Police believe they were reaching for their handguns.

“[Musse] and Slaman then went around a white truck which they used as a barrier as they carefully approached the white Lexas,” reads the affidavit. “However, [Musse] and Salam decide to turn around and walked back towards the 7-Eleven.”

The two suspects entered the gas station, and a minute later, they exited with Talib and another male occupant of the Lexas.

“Body language showed that [Slaman] appeared to be getting ready to take out a gun,” according to the affidavit. “[Talib] followed Slaman while [Musse] was right behind [Talib].”

Talib, Slaman, and Musse walked towards the north side of the 7-Eleven when a fight began. The four male occupants of the Lexas started running to the fight, and Slaman and Musse fled.

According to police, security footage showed Slaman and Musse hiding at a nearby body shop parking lot near some white vehicles for 3 minutes. Shortly afterward, the two surrendered to police at the 7-Eleven.

The owner of the body shop later reported that he found blood and two guns underneath one of his vehicles, police say.

On Sunday, the owner of the Lexus, Joshua Harun Nena, called police to report that his vehicle had been stolen, according to police.

Police interviewed Nena and determined he was lying about his car being stolen and arrested him. They also found out that Nena and Talib are cousins.

As of Monday, investigators were still looking for the Lexus and believe that the shooting was a “quarreling” between gangs.
