PD says based on what they’re hearing from witnesses, speed seems to have played a role in this crash.

“The car that was going too fast was right behind me then switched to the other lane, and then he was still going too fast at the red light,” witness Aldo Lopez told KSL TV. “And I’m just wondering why is he going too fast, and he still hit the other car.”
An officer assigned to the SLCPD’s Central Division Bike Squad rolled up on the crash and immediately called for additional first responders.
The crash pushed the second car into a yard at 615 N. 900 West. Police say speed and alcohol may be factors in the crash based on evidence found at the scene.
Investigators are asking residents who live on 900 West between 300 North and 600 North to check any home security or surveillance cameras from approximately 10:39 p.m. to 10:42 p.m. to see if they captured the first vehicle traveling on 900 West before the crash.
