Utah Fire Crews Head to California to Help Battle Wildfires

UTAH – Multiple fire crews from all over the state of Utah left today to help battle the California wildfires that have so far claimed the lives of 25 people.
110 people were listed as missing as of Saturday evening, according to the Associated Press.
23 people were killed in the Camp Fire in Northern California and two bodies were found in the burn area of the Woolsey Fire in Southern California, officials said Saturday.

Wasatch County Fire Department posted to their Facebook page writing, “Wasatch County Fire District has an engine and crew on their way this morning to California to assist with the fires burning. There are currently 23 fires burning across the state. We will keep you posted of their status once they get there. Thanks to those who are leaving their families during the Thanksgiving holiday, and to those who are covering the shifts that need to be filled in their absence.”
And, in another post, they wrote, “They are loaded up and ready to go. Wishing them a safe journey.”
The team also changed their Facebook cover photo to the group shot of the firefighters heading out to California.
Lone Peak Fire District posted to their Facebook page writing, “Lone Peak Fire District has deployed three and a half firefighters to help with the wild fires raging in California. Deputy Chief Evans, Captain Walker, Firefighter Christensen and Betta Brian, the firefighting fish, are on their way to meet up with the Utah Task Forces at the Maverick Center. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they travel and assist the people in California. Firefighting is a dangerous job but we are honored to serve our neighbors at home as well as in neighboring states. #LPFD #BettaBrian#firefightingfish”
Sandy City Fire Department posted this to their Facebook page writing, “This morning we watched as these three individuals drove off to help in California at the wildfires. Good luck and be safe.”
And in another post, they wrote, “Preparing for the deployment to support @calfire with the fires in Southern California.
Juab County Fire District posted to their Facebook page writing, “The Juab County Fire District has sent a truck and four Firefighters to Southern California to fight fires. Kevin Wood and Eric Johnson from Nephi Fire Department, Sam Jensen and Michael Baird from Rocky Ridge Fire Department all departed Sunday morning for a ten day assignment. Juab Engine 41 was supplied by Levan Fire Department.”
Uintah County Fire Department wrote, “We sent 4 of our amazing Wildland Firefighters to assist with the California Wildfires this morning. They will be working side by side with many other Utah firefighters who will all leave together to help those affected in California by the fires. We send you all the positive vibes to be safe and do what you all do best. #BeSafe”
