SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The body of Major Brent Taylor has returned to Utah, greeted and honored by hundreds of members of the Utah National Guard, emergency responders, state dignitaries and family.
Taylor was killed on Saturday, November 3 while deployed to Afghanistan, in what officials described as an “insider attack.”
A member of the Utah National Guard, Taylor was also the mayor of the city of North Ogden.
His remains were repatriated to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware last week, and returned to Utah Wednesday afternoon.

U.S. Representative and former Provo Mayor John Curtis honored Major Taylor on the floor of the House Wednesday.
“Major Taylor and I had the great privilege of serving as mayors of each of our home towns in Utah.
“As our communities, state and nation mourn this tragic loss, his dear wife, Jenny, reminded us why so many choose to serve this great country. In her words, ‘The price of freedom surely feels incredibly high to all those of us who know and love our individual soldier, but the value of freedom is immeasurable to all who know and love America,'” he said.
