SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Salt Lake City police said one teen boy shot another Saturday evening.
Lieutenant Jenn Diederich said the shooting happened just after 8:00 p.m. She said the teens were in a vehicle parked along 800 North near Lafayette Drive when one shot the other.
When first responders arrived, Diederich said they found one boy with multiple gunshot wounds and the other had run away. She said investigators believe the two teens know each other.
West Valley City police brought in search dogs to look for the teen who ran away. Police said they did not believe there was any threat to the rest of the neighborhood, though they did ask people to keep an eye out.
“If you are in the area and you happen to notice someone hiding in your backyard or something that’s going to help us out, please call (801) 799-3000,” Diederich said.
Police said the boy who was shot did not have life-threatening injuries.
