SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Police were seeking help Wednesday to find a man suspected in an assault outside some downtown bars.
The attack, which happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday near 300 S. Main St., left another man with a broken nose and fractured orbital bone.
That man, Kyle Drell, said Wednesday evening that he did nothing to provoke his attacker.
“I just felt like this guy isn’t looking for a normal fight,” Drell said. “He was looking to hurt somebody.”
Drell said he and his girlfriend exited a bar and found an argument in progress on the sidewalk.

“I made a comment to one of them, said, you know, ‘if you want to see a fight, watch it on TV,’” Drell said. “Then, one of his buddies kind of laid into me.”
Drell said he was punched twice, and then kicked when he was down on one knee.
Cell phone video documented some of the assault, as well as the moment when the alleged attacker walks briskly away from the scene.
“To leave somebody bleeding on the ground and walk away the way this guy does—yeah, I don’t know who does that,” Drell said. “(I) ran into the wrong guy at the wrong time.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Salt Lake City Police Department at 801-799-3000 and reference case number 19-87693.
