WASHINGTON TERRACE, Utah – Two newspaper carriers found themselves in the middle of the news early Wednesday morning, when they were confronted by a man with a gun while on their paper route.
The carriers were delivering for the Standard Examiner about 5:30 a.m., when neighbors heard six shots rang out.
According to the Weber County Sheriff’s office, the news carrier said a man confronted him in the street and asked what he was doing, before firing several shots into the ground and driving away in a black car.
Detectives did recover spent shell casings in the street.
Neighbors say a nearby house has a long history of suspected drug activity and believe the newspaper carriers encountered someone coming or leaving that home.
Later in the afternoon, two Weber County sheriff patrol cars drove by quickly and stopped at the home, questioning a man as he pulled into the driveway.
The deputies left about ten minutes later and declined to say if their visit was related to the shooting investigation.
