SNYDERVILLE, Utah – One person was injured after a semi-truck hit an attenuator truck driving behind a paint truck at freeway speeds, officials said.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the incident happened near the junction of I-80 and state Route 40 in Summit County at approximately 9:55 p.m. Sunday.
The attenuator truck was driving behind a paint truck that was repainting lines on the road.
“The attenuator truck has a removable barricade at the rear designed to reduce the force of a crash and protect mobile construction or paint crews,” according to a UHP statement. “Both the paint truck and attenuator truck had arrow boards and amber construction vehicle lighting activated.”
A semi-truck traveling in the right lane failed to move over or slow down, and “the semi impacted the rear of the attenuator truck at freeway speeds,” according to UHP.
The driver of the attenuator truck suffered “significant injuries” and was transported by ambulance in poor condition. Officials said he’s expected to survive.
No one in the paint truck was injured. There’s no word on the condition of the semi-truck driver.
The crash is under investigation.
