SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The countdown is on to the 2020 Tokyo games, and Friday marked six months until the opening ceremony.
The games will include a record number of events — including karate, skateboarding, climbing and surfing, which are the four newest sports to be added to the Olympics.
There are 31 athletes so far on the USA roster, and more than 600 are expected to qualify after the Olympic trials in June.
In Tokyo, eight of the nine planned Olympic venues have been completed, and the athletes village complex is expected to be complete in just a few short months.
KSL TV’s Shara Park, Alex Cabrero and KSLSports.com’s Jeremiah Jensen will be in Japan to cover the games.
