HUNTSVILLE, Utah – State fire officials said a new start has been confirmed near Causey Reservoir in Weber County.
The Water Hollow Fire was reported Friday afternoon. It was estimated at 168 acres and 20 percent containment by Friday night. Fire investigators said the blaze was caused by legal target shooting on private property in the area.
“Please be careful out there. Enjoy the outdoors but watch your UTVs, watch your ATVs, watch your campfires and if you’re out shooting, try to go to an approved gun range,” said Weber County Fire Warden Richard Cooper.

Officials said evacuations are on standby for residents in the area. No homes are currently threatened by the blaze.
Causey Reservoir, which is about 15 miles northeast of Ogden, was closed while crews responded to the fire.
Cooper said while it was less than ideal to close the reservoir on a holiday, it served to be a tool that “made a big difference” in the fight against the fire.
