LAYTON, Utah – The friends of the woman who was found dead in Layton spoke to KSL-TV about some of the challenges she had over the last month, hoping to shed light on what happened to her.
Kristen Culhane, age 46, was found Tuesday evening in Kay’s Creek, between Layton and Kaysville. Family and friends said Culhane had been missing since Friday.
They searched, but were unable to find the woman.
“All of us tried to find her,” said friend Megan Snow. “We did everything we could.”
Snow said Culhane had not been feeling well, and suffered she describe as a mini heart attack just over a month ago.
She was back in the hospital days before she went missing, and was released on Wednesday.
Her friends said something felt off and she was saying strange things.
Snow stopped by her house Friday morning, and said Kristen was still feeling sick.
“I got a text… that night, asking if I was with Kris, from her boyfriend,” Snow said.
It appeared Culhane went for walk on Friday but never made it home. They spent the weekend looking for her.
Loved ones said Culhane was the kind of friend that becomes family.
“I’d talk to her a couple of times a day. She’s more than a friend… more than a sister,” Snow said. “She was the person that was honest with you all the time.”
The 46-year-old went by Kris. Snow said she was looking forward to becoming a grandmother for the second time.
On Tuesday, a neighbor found Kris’ body in Kay’s Creek, about a mile from her home. The creek is along a walking path that runs behind a neighborhood just south of Gentile Street.
Investigators were working to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
Officials with the Layton Police Department have asked anyone with information or who saw Kris over the weekend to contact them.
