SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Tracy Aviary has a new addition to its flock — a kea chick.
Kea, which are endemic to the Southern Alps of New Zealand and the world’s only mountain parrot, are considered endangered.
The new chick hatched at the end of March and KSL’s Jenne Anderson spoke with caretakers about the bird’s progress and how bird shows are returning!
Our little kea is growing fast! Come and see the little chick on our nest camera in South American Pavilion. Soon the chick will be moving to an off exhibit space to spend some time under the mentorship of Scarlet, Steve Austin, Gonzo and Newton! pic.twitter.com/r98kaCkCOJ
