RICHMOND, Utah — A small plane crashed in Cache County after officials said it struck a power pole while attempting to land.
The incident happened at 11481 North and 2000 East just after 6:15 p.m.
Officials with the Cache County Sheriff’s Office said the Kitfox plane hit a power pole and landed nose down in a bush after attempting to land in a field.
Investigators said the pilot, identified as Lynn Goodsell, had flown over the field to ensure it was clear to land. When he attempted to turn back to land, he hit the pole.
Goodsell and his passenger were not seriously injured and were able to exit the damaged plane on their own.
The Cache County Sheriff’s Office was investigating the crash with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
Officials said Rocky Mountain Power has been notified of the damaged power pole.
