GRAND COUNTY, Utah — Search and rescue crews were called out after a 26-year-old woman from Colorado jumped off a rock in Mary Jane Canyon and hurt her foot.
The incident happened Sunday afternoon, about three miles from the trailhead.
There was no service in the canyon, but the woman was able to call for help using a satellite messaging device.
Officials with the Grand County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue said bystanders helped her some of the way down the canyon before the rescue team met her with a wheeled stretcher.
Crew members with Grand County EMS and two rangers from the Bureau of Land Management also responded.
