SALT LAKE CITY — As most of the state prepares for the first major winter storm of the season, Salt Lake City officials are asking for the public’s help to name its snowplows.
Voters can choose up to four options in the SLC-related pun category and up to two in the puns, movies and music categories.
As of Wednesday morning, early front runners included “Flake Effect,” “Snowy McSnowFace,” “Snowbi Wan Kenobi” and “Sled Zeppelin.”

The poll will be open until Tuesday.
The 10 most-popular names will be assigned to the plows, which can be tracked during storms. The city’s Streets Division runs 45 snowplows to clear 1,850 lane miles of roadway in the city.
