Police arrest suspect in West Valley City homicide

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — A 30-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of a 59-year-old man in West Valley City, according to police.
The fatal incident happened Saturday night at the Aspenwood Apartments at 4178 South 4080 West.
Officers found 59-year-old Willie Houston with several stab wounds around 8 p.m. He was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Officials with the West Valley City Police Department said Tuesday night that investigators received a tip regarding the whereabouts of 30-year-old Deon Jennings, who was named a person of interest in the case Monday.
“They successfully located him in West Valley City and took him into custody,” stated the agency’s press release.

According to police, Houston lived in the Aspenwood apartment complex with his girlfriend.
“Witnesses report some sort of dispute occurring between Mr. Houston and his girlfriend’s nephew, 30-year-old Deon Jennings, who also lives in the apartment complex in a separate apartment.”
