2022 ties record of number of 100-degree days in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s capital tied the record of triple-digit days with the 21st on Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, the Salt Lake City International Airport reported at 3 p.m. that they crossed the 100-degree mark.
Only three other years have this many triple-digit days: 1960, 1994 and 2021. Each year had 21 days that crossed 100 degrees, and 2022 is now the fourth year.
This year also broke the record for hottest days in July as 18 days reached 100 degrees, with 1960 being second with 15 days, according to the NWS.
August usually cools down as only three to seven days reach 100 degrees — but 2022 only needs one day to become the hottest year in recent history.
