MAESER, Utah — Two men who police say were in extremely critical condition after being shot inside their home in Uintah County have died from their injuries.
On Friday, the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement saying investigators believe the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide.
Deputies were called to the residence in the Sun Ridge subdivision just after 8 a.m. Thursday.
“When deputies arrived, they found two adult males in separate bedrooms who had sustained gunshot wounds,” according to the statement.
Detectives believe a 51-year-old man shot his 77-year-old father-in-law and then shot himself. Both men lived in the home with three others who were at the home at the time of the shootings but were not injured.
The names of the men were not immediately released. The sheriff’s office stated that detectives are still investigating a possible motive for the shooting.
