FARMINGTON — One construction worker is dead after an apparent crane collapse where the under-construction West Davis Corridor will intersect with Interstate 15.
Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Brian Peterson confirmed the Farmington death but did not yet have other details about the circumstances or if any cars or other people were involved.
The Utah Department of Transportation said the person killed was part of the “extremely close” project crew for the West Davis Highway project.
The death caused the temporary closure of two lanes of southbound I-15 at milepost 322 — near Grover Lane — in Davis County.
This morning there was a fatal construction incident involving a member the West Davis Highway project crew. Two lanes of SB I-15 are currently closed. Utah’s transportation community is extremely close nit, and we all mourn the loss of this dedicated teammate.

The West Davis Corridor is a new 16-mile project in western Davis County with the first phase connecting I-15 to Legacy Parkway at Glover Lane in Farmington, according to UDOT. It will extend west and north to 4500 West and the future extension of state Route 193 in West Point.
There are other possible future phases of the project but there is currently no funding or environmental evaluation in place.
