Exotic car owners can legally speed to benefit charity in Eagle Mountain

EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah – Gentleman start your engines! That’s what the owners of some exotic and expensive cars will hear on Saturday, June 23 in Eagle Mountain when they will be able to legally put the pedal to the metal.

It’s called the “Limitless Supercar Shootout” and it will allow owners of exotic cars to legally go as fast as they want on a stretch of road in Eagle Mountain.

Richard Seal says ever since he was a kid, he’s loved exotic cars, but very rarely can anyone legally see how fast they can go. He came up with an idea with his business partner, Rob Shelton, and they approached Eagle Mountain City.

“We said there is a long stretch of flat road out in the middle of nowhere, we want to have a super car shootout and they were like, ‘Great, let’s do it,’” Seal says.

The event, which will allow one car at a time to open up the throttle, will take place on Eagle Mountain Boulevard between Highway 73 and the community’s City Center.

Police will close the road to all traffic, so the owners of these exotic cars can see just how fast they can go.

“So the course itself is three miles total. The first mile is a sweeping ‘S’ curve and then there will be a full mile of acceleration, then a mile of shut down, for safety,” Seal adds.

The drivers each have to pay $1000 to drive the course and will pay even more, depending on their top speed.

“The sheriff’s office will be there to record the times, and they will issue a citation that will be given to the drivers and they have to pay a multiple of their speed and that will be donated to Make-A-Wish,” Shelton says.

Organizers say the real motivation behind letting these cars go really fast on a public highway is to raise money to help ill children in Utah have a wish fulfilled. The Cars4Kids foundation will donate the proceeds to Make-A-Wish.

“Events like this help us to grant those wishes. It takes resources and funds and that is what this event is going to do – promote help for these kids who need hope in their lives,” says Jared Perry of Make-A-Wish Utah, the charity selected by the event organizers.

So far, interest is high among car owners, as well as spectators who can buy tickets to see the cars open up on the road.

“I think we are going to fill all 30 spots with some really great cars,” Seal says.

Before the 2 p.m. event, the cars that are in the shootout will be part of a free car show that begins at 10 a.m. at Cory Wride Park in Eagle Mountain.
