Neighbors Say Crosswalk Is Needed At Site Of Fatal Crash

KAYSVILLE, Utah – Two women were trying to cross a busy road in Davis County when they were hit by two vehicles. One was killed, and the other was seriously injured.
Officials from the Kaysville Police Department said Lori Morgan and Andrea Snarr were trying to cross Main Street near Nicholls Road around 7:15 a.m. Thursday when the two vehicles hit them. Snarr was airlifted to a hospital, where police said she was stable. Morgan, they said, was killed.
Neighbors said it came as no surprise that someone was hurt at the spot.
“We’ve said for a long time, it’s going to take somebody dying before we really get a signal and a crosswalk in here. That’s such a shame, because that happened today,” said Melanie Stengel.
Stengel said she lives in a neighborhood near Main Street. There was a one-mile stretch between stoplights with crosswalks along the street in that area. Stengel said there were enough pedestrians and joggers trying to cross the road in that stretch that a new crosswalk is needed.
She hoped some change could come from the tragedy.
“It better happen. It really better happen. Somebody lost their life that didn’t have to lose their life today,” Stengel said.
Police said the two drivers who hit the women were cooperating with the investigation. It was not clear if any charges would be filed.
