Eagle Mountain Teen Hit by SUV in 2018 Hopes His Story Will Help Others

EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah – Nearly a year after an Eagle Mountain teenager was hit by an SUV while riding his bike, he and his family are sharing their story in hopes of making a positive difference for others.
Wynn was riding his bike along Pony Express Parkway with a friend on March 10, 2018. When they began to cross the road, Wynn was hit by an SUV he did not see coming.
“I remember us just riding our bikes at the gas station down the street and that’s the last thing that I really remember,” Aaron said.
Aaron’s mother, Veronica Wynn, said Aaron was in bad shape. He had a broken leg and serious head injury. She said doctors were not optimistic about his recovery after the first couple of days.
“They basically told us, ‘You might want to start saying your goodbyes to your son’,” she said.
On the third, day, though, she said Aaron’s vitals started improving. He spent 20 days in the hospital. Nearly a year later, Aaron is up and walking at home.
“I love this kid to death and every day I’m just happy that he’s here,” Veronica said.
As Aaron’s family marks the one-year anniversary of the accident, they want their story to have a positive impact on others. Veronica said Aaron’s friends all started wearing helmets after he was hit. She also wants people, whether they are riding a bicycle, driving a car, or walking along the sidewalk, to be more vigilant.
“I think everyone needs to pay more attention. It has to be combined. It has to be everybody,” she said.
