Vacant Building Partially Collapses in Avenues in Downtown Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Frightening moments Saturday night in downtown Salt Lake when a vacant building came tumbling down.
“I was scared. I just saw the building coming down. I was wondering if there was an earthquake or something,” Hayden Angeletti said. “My dog was freaking out. It crashed our deck and came through our window.”
Salt Lake City Fire says the building, on 1st Ave and N. Street was being remodeled, and the wet weather didn’t help.
“It was all being remodeled. Due to the weight of the water, from not just today’s storm but recurring storms, it appears that’s what affected the collapse today,” Salt Lake City Fire Captain Adam Archuleta said.
Fire crews say luckily now was hurt but for residents if was very unsettling.
