Knife-Wielding Man Killed In Ogden Officer-Involved Shooting

OGDEN, Utah – A man wielding a knife and reportedly acting erratically in Weber County was shot and killed by police officers after they said the man advanced on them.
Officers from the Ogden Police Department responded to a home near 32nd and Gramercy Avenue just before 9 p.m. Friday.
People at a home in the area called 911 emergency dispatchers to report a man wandering the area with a knife.
They told police they were having a yard party outside when the man approached, saying he appeared disoriented.
As officers were en route, the caller told dispatchers the man had begun looking through car windows in the area, and had entered a carport.
Officials said four officers arrived in three patrol vehicles. As they approached the man, investigators said he was still brandishing the knife.
The officers directed the man to put down the knife, but they said he advanced on them.
All four officers fired their service weapons, hitting the man. Officials said the officers then moved in to secure him.
The man, whose identity was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was not immediately clear if the man had a criminal history, or why he was brandishing the knife. Details about the size or nature of the knife were also not released.
Officials said the officers were placed on administrative leave, per department policy.
