Provo Airport Breaks Ground For New Terminal

PROVO, Utah — A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday to celebrate the growth taking place at Provo Airport with a new terminal.
The ceremony brought together Provo City Mayor Michelle Kaufusi, Utah Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox and other state and county leaders to commemorate the beginning of a $40 million, 100,000 square-foot project.
The new terminal will mean more convenience, more commercial flights and more jobs. Cox said Utah is a top-five state for aerospace in the country, and this new addition brings convenience and more options for travel and business.
“This changes everything,” he said. “It’s not just Utah County. It’s a whole bunch of rural Utah. Unless you’re close enough to St. George, this really is the best option for so many of us.”
The terminal is designed to reflect the mountains and be family-friendly and spacious.
Provo Airport Manager Steve Gleason said this is just the beginning. Airport authorities are hoping this will lead to more destinations, connecting services and additional airlines.
He noted the addition will allow Allegiant to expand into some of the markets in Provo.
The Provo Airport terminal is expected to be complete by December 2021.
