SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Workers said they were grateful nobody was seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash propelled a car into their restaurant.

The car did significant damage to the front of La Frontera, 1236 West 400 South in Salt Lake City.

“(The) first customer of the day drove in and they didn’t even buy anything!” said employee Dale Burt.

Burt said a couple of his coworkers were several feet away when the front windows shattered and the wall gave way.

“The person that was driving this one was all shook up,” Burt said as he looked over what was left of the damage. “I understand no one was hurt, thank God.”

Burt said the crash brought daily business Monday to a slow trickle, with the front of the store appearing as if it might be closed.

Larry Powell, who had frequented the restaurant for decades, said it was sad to see the property damage.

“People just don’t think anymore,” he sighed. “It’s just like, ‘c’mon guys!’”

Burt and Powell urged other drivers to be careful on 400 South and anywhere else, noting the potential impact an accident can have on a person or a business.

“I’ve been tempted to throw rocks at some of them just to try to get them to slow down,” Burt quipped. “I wouldn’t, but I was thinking about it.”

Police said there didn’t seem to be an factors like impairment in the crash – that it was just a bad crash. There were no serious injuries.
