Commuters Prepare For Possible Slick Roads After Weekend Snowstorm

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – It’s going to be sunny skies for most Utahns on Monday according to KSL meteorologists.
However, Sunday’s snowstorm could impact the morning commute.
The storm didn’t last long enough for snow to accumulate on the roadways, but it left areas all along the Wasatch Mountains wet. With temperatures forecast to drop the 30s and 20s before sunrise, there’s potential for black ice during the Monday morning drive.
Commuters faced similar circumstances – a cold morning following wet weather – on Feb. 17, when black ice was blamed for at least 55 crashes on the tech corridor of I-15 near Point of the Mountain, and causing it to shut down completely.
According to KSLweather.com, Monday’s high will be 30 degrees on that same stretch of road.
Those traveling Monday morning should be prepared for the possibility of ice on the roads. The Utah Highway Patrol has also urged drivers to check their tires to make sure they’re safe to drive on.
