MILLCREEK, Utah – Authorities on Monday responded to a Millcreek apartment complex after a resident called to report she’d found a man who had been shot.
Unified Police Department identified the victim as Tevita Laloni, 32, of Salt Lake City.
Officers responded to the incident at approximately 7:50 a.m. in the area of 200 East and Hill Avenue.
Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray reported the resident said she’d stepped outside to have a cigarette when she discovered the victim on the sidewalk.
There were no reports of shots fired, police said.
Laloni could have been shot at another location, Gray said. He was transported to the hospital where he was declared deceased.
Gray said detectives believe the woman’s apartment may be connected to the case.
“We do believe that the victim knew the people in the apartment here, and that those are potentially our suspects,” she said.
