SPANISH FORK, Utah – A bomb squad responded to a recovery center in Spanish Fork Canyon Tuesday night, authorities said.
Residents at the Mountain Peaks Recover Center evacuated at approximately 7 p.m.after two explosive devices were discovered – one on the front porch and one at the back of the building.
Sgt. Spencer Cannon with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office said a resident at the center built the devices from household items for “entertainment.”
“(It was a) poor choice for entertainment for something like this that has potential to cause harm – and even death,” Cannon said.
He said the devices didn’t function as intended, and the bomb squad was able to disable them.
Authorities are deciding whether to file criminal charges.
